Google analytics is probably the most powerful and popular free analytics software available on the market, however, it can be daunting to most beginners.
But if you are running a website without a data reporting tool such as Google analytics you might as well try to sell ice to Alaska.
No matter what size your business is, you need to understand what is happening on your website so you can shape your online strategy.
And beginner or not, google analytics will help you just do that. You may think data analysis is not very glamorous and you’re probably right.
But with the help of google analytics you will find out who visits your website, when, at what time, what they are buying and much more.
The downside is, Google analytics can be a little complex if you are a beginner or never used it before.
That’s why I have created the ultimate beginner’s guide to Google analytics so you can improve your business' strategy in no time.

This is the most comprehensive guide for beginners that I’ve found. Period. Thank you, Sir.
You’re very welcome Jordan. Thanks
If you’re reading this comment wondering whether to watch this or not, I spent hours going through Google’s own ‘Beginners Analytics’ video course, and found Ranking Academy’s far more useful. Gives you a great snapshot overview of the control panel and some excellent short cuts to powerful info that Googles videos didn’t even mention. Far clearer and more concise you won’t regret investing the half hour.
From the very bottom of my heart thank you! You put real time in to this and it shows!!! You are improving lives. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind comment snowden 101
Thanks so much for this, RA! Helped me understand all the essentials 🙂
Thanks a lot
I just launched my wife’s art sales website. I’ve been looking through analytics and just bumbling around. This video was so helpful, especially the campaign section. That’s so much!
My pleasure Timothy
This is an incredible video! Thank you so much for breaking down Google Analytics in such an easy-to-understand way! We will definitely let our network know about this!
Many thanks
As someone who truly is a beginner this video presentation is WAY more helpful than anything I’m presently taking in my Digital Analysis course which is one of five core courses in a Digital Marketing Certificate program offered through one of Canada’s main universities. I’m saving it and watching it again!
Glad to hear it. Thank you so much for your kind comment. I hope you pass the course.
Thanks, Luc! This is super useful information and task-specific advice. Much appreciated and keep this wonderful content coming!
Thanks David, will do!
Great Video! One question on the conversion. When you used the destination as a goal, is the conversion measuring the amount of actual downloads on that page? or just the amount of people who arrive at the download page (aka the destination)? Once they arrive a the download page, people don’t necessarily click the download button
Thanks Samuel. Not sure I follow. If your goal is set to be the download page then it will measure the number of time users access the page.
Excellent tutorial !!! Thank you so much for very well presenting this topic in such a professional and informative way. I have learned so much!! Best wishes 🙂
Glad it was helpful tanja
Thanks for the informative and detailed explanation of your tutorial. Easy for me to learn as a beginner.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your comment Nabila

Many thanks James, really appreciate your comment and i’m glad you found this useful
You did an amazing job walking through this. It’s very simple to follow and understand and your overview really helped to show a pragmatic way to leverage google analytics. Thank you for this 📱🖥📈🔍✅
Thank you very much for your kind comment Eric, Glad it was helpful!
I think I have never learned more from a tutorial! I am new both at your channel and in the Google Analytics world. It is all really beautifully explained. Thank you for sharing your time and expertise!
@Ranking Academy Thank you. 🙂 I have one question. I am in search of the answer just now, so hope you can refer me to the relevant video, if you have it. I made my first call only campaign in Google Ads and now I would like to have the calls from the campaign set as goals in Google Analytics. While searching for the answer I only come across explanations about calls from the company website, but so far I have nothing on tracking calls directly from the paid ad. Thank you in advance!
Welcome aboard Ana and thanks for your kind comment. I hope you get the most out of the videos
A wonderful breakdown of Google Analytics — entertaining and insightful.
On a side point, I fully agree with 365 Black’s comments about why this should be part of film school (or any education system nowadays) curriculum.
Many thanks Peter
Really great explanation on how Google Analytics work! Thank you. You broke this down really well and it was easy to follow. A really straight forward walkthrough that anyone could understand! Thanks again.
Many thanks for your kind comment
This is among the most informative videos I have watched and learned a handful of information about. Please share details on goal setting under the conversions tab so that we can all follow-through from this.
Thanks for sharing these insightful tips.
Many thanks kevin
Really awesome practical tips on analytics! I notice when the source/medium of landing pages shows google cpc. I assume the sales landing pages are placed under the same domain as the rest of services pages. Whether the sales landing pages are indexed or not, it’s doesn’t matter, correct?
@Ranking Academy Thanks for the clear reply. You clear my doubts. 🙂
Many thanks. Yes, even if your page is not indexed it will show up in your google analytics as long as it sits under the same domain.
This was fantastic! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into making this video. It was extremely useful for me–as I’m sure was for others as well. Keep it up!
Many thanks eve for your kind comment
Great content, explained in an understandable way. Thanks a lot!
Thank you
Love it. I’ve been looking for something like this in a while and couldn’t find anything that was simple enough, now I have. Keep doing what you are doing 🙂
Many thanks nicolas
